Hi Reza,
I am thinking about buying a tailors iron. So far I have used a domestic steam iron with a weight of approx. 900g. When I crease a trouser leg, which is made of wool fabric, I can do this with a lot of steam and pressing with a clapper board. However, the crease will not stay for very long.
Apparently, there is quite a variety of irons on the market ranging from 2kg to 7kg. 7kg seems to be a bit too heavy. Although, after having seen the shrinking video you posted with its 30 tons hypdraulic press, 7kg does not look very heavy anymore.
So, what weight would you recommend?
Thanks for your reply
Best regards
Klaus
Hi Klaus!
I recommend a 5kg dry iron for tailoring. Mine is also 5kg.
The brand that I have is called Stirovap and is based in Italy.
It has a solid brass base.
