I always tend to be overly critical of my work and ideas, and am a little concerned that I'm muddying the purpose of the IST community by discussing my current projects. I'm not a tailor but am very interested in learning how it's done. Sewing is something I'm learning in order to create things my family needs or wants that either isn't available to buy or too expensive to have someone else make. I post questions and ideas here because the foundation of tailoring seems to be applicable to the things I create, which is, getting a two dimensional surface to cover a three dimensional shape in a predictable way. However, I'm not making clothes for people, I'm making clothing for chairs. 😁 That said, as we are all attending the International School of TAILORING, it's probably a good idea to keep my posts "on point."
Reza, please feel free to delete any of my posts that don't reinforce or advance your mission or intent. It certainly won't hurt my feelings, and I certainly don't want to distract the rest of the class with my questions, comments, or general bullshitery. 🤐
Hey Bill. You are keeping the spirit in this community up. This is not a totalitarian website. Post what you think is appropriate.
I appreciate your questions and believe they are very relevant. I learned many tailoring principles through figure drawing instead of tailoring books... To learn tailoring, one must look at principles and principles ALWAYS occur in multiple diciplines at the same time. Mastery begins with an open mind and an outsiders perspective. You seem like an outsider. Keep at it.
