I wanted to share the tailor hams i just made with the isot tutorial as they were really fun to make ! for the main fabric i used a very sturdy cotton canvas/calico with a weight of around 200gr/m that i usually use for corset toiles/mock ups. It's not as maleable and luxurious than moleskin but is i think a very good and cheap alternative (around 5/10 euros or $ per meter). It's studry, very dense plain weave, the needle can't pass through it unless you really want to and the yarns are thin enough that the weaving pattern doesn't leave an inprint in your fabric. It's a bit harder to compress and smooth out the little imperfections and bumps than with moleskin but you get through it with enough force and steam.
For the filling i used rabbit litter (basically really fine wood chips). Like Resa said, really do not underestimate the amount of filling that you will need, i used one and a half 60l bag for both hams ! but it's also really cheap (4/5$ the bag). Big thanks to Reza for this tutorial, the hams are really as smooth, heavy and rigid as the 100$ ones my shcool had !
Side note : i don't know if it's a mistake or if i didn't get something, but the pattern Reza provide for the long darted one make points at the ends and not smooth curves so i corrected that.
Good learning everyone !
