Watch Reza draft and make a tailors ham from calico (muslin) scraps and create your own.

Ham Patterns

A tailor's ham is a firm cushion, often made by tailors themselves. It's used for pressing round surfaces during the garment construction process.

It's called a ham for its round and bulky resemblance to an actual ham. Tailor's hams are commonly filled with scrap fabrics from past projects, sawdust, or hamster batting.

This is likely the first tool you'll make as a tailor. We've included a bonus lesson in our online coat-making course to guide you in drafting and creating your own tailor's ham. You'll use it throughout our lessons and, long after.

While we encourage you to draft your own ham pattern, below, you can choose and download an existing pattern created by us. All our large-scale patterns are designed for easy printing at home using a desktop printer.
